Replacement rider scores more points in the UK

Anthony West began the 2016 WorldSBK season as a one event rider in WorldSSP at Phillip Island, where the Australian dueled with reigning Champion Kenan Sofuoglu and took a podium finish. After an injury forcing his withdrawal from Assen, West has been standing in for injured Sylvain Barrier at Pedercini Racing, riding at Sepang and at Donington. After a top ten and a top five in Malaysia first time on the bike, the veteran took more points in his second outing in the UK, with another top ten in Race 1 before a slightly more difficult Race 2.

"I cannot say that I am completely happy with this result, of course the 12th place is a positive outcome, but during the race the bike wasn’t the same as Race 1,” said West. “I hadn’t got the right feeling on the brakes and the bike had a different behavior out of the corners which prevented me to keep pushing the way I wanted. The overall result of Round 7 is anyway very positive and makes me say that I’ve done a good job here.”

The good points haul for Pedercini leave the team satisfied ahead of another home Round at Misano, with the paddock’s second visit to Italy set for the 17th-19th June at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
